Lazy Girl’s Guide to Sunblock

SO here’s a fun fact, if you’re in your mid to late 20’s, your body has probably stopped producing a nice little protein molecule called COLLAGEN!

Sad I know, but that is exactly why you should begin an anti aging regime once you reach your mid to late 20’s…before its too late. And I’m not talking face only, I’m talking full body!person pouring plastic tube bottle

Now, I in no way shape or form consider myself to be an expert on skincare, but as someone who began getting monthly facials at one point at the age of 18, I have done a lot of research and consulted many experts on the topic of skincare.

Also, I binge watch skincare videos on Youtube like it’s a Netflix series but anyways…

As a stereotypical Miami girl, born and raised in the 305, the beach and the sun are just a normal part of life. You lay out on your towel, enjoy some strawberry margaritas with your girls and apply as much tanning oil all over your body in an effort to fry your skin until is browned to perfection.

Boy are we going to regret that once we hit 50!

The first step in helping your skin stay youthful, firm and glowing is to avoid as much sun damage as possible. Sure, the sun can give you an awesome bronze goddess tan, but it is also directly associated with causing fine lines and wrinkles and sun spots. Even when you think you are safe from the sun’s effects, the UV rays can make their way through clouds, rain even windows!

The good news is, there is still a chance at reversing some of that sun damage and avoiding any further damage and aging.

I found that using a daily facial sunscreen along with a body sunscreen EACH AND EVERY DAY is really not as annoying as it sounds and it’s probably the easiest way to avoid again! Now I know what you’re thinking, I don’t want to smell like a coconut, and look like a tourist every day, but there is some great news! There are so many amazing skincare and makeup brands that realize the importance of SPF and incorporate it into many of the products you might already be using every day.

Exhibit A: IT Cosmetics has created an amazing line of skincare and makeup that already contain an SPF 50! I personally love using their Your Skin But Better CC Cream. It’s a one step process for those of you, who like me might be lazy or just too rushed to have a lengthy skincare and makeup routines in the morning. You can find a complete line up of their products here

Exhibit B:  Australian Gold Botanical Mineral SPF 50 Non Greasy tinted face lotion. I used this product daily, on my face, neck, chest and hands regardless if I’m using making that already contains SPF. This is a non chemical SPF and my skin just loves it. Unlike many other face sunblock products out there, this one is slightly tinted so it’s great to wear on it’s own or under your makeup. The non-greasy formula blends in really well into the skin and just feels like a nice moisturizer.

Exhibit C:Australian Gold Botanical Mineral Sunscreen Lotion – SPF50.If this brand makes a great face lotion, they’re body lotion should be great right? Right! I apply this lotion to my arms and chest, and sometimes my legs if they’re exposed. The lotions is pretty lightweight and again has that non greasy but moisturizing feel just like the face lotion.  It is also a  non-chemical sunscreen so it provides protection with a refreshingly luxurious, powdery-clean feel. What I love about this lotion is that along with the benefits of the SPF it also includes vitamins and antioxidants. It also comes in a spray option if that’s more of your style.

Of course, there’s a ton of other things you can do keep your skin from aging, but just by simply incorporating these sun protecting products into your daily routine is an easy step towards a healthier and more youthful you!
